Just like we all witnessed the explosion of the movie and music industry in Naija” transforming the Nigerian movie industry to the third largest producer of movies in the world, following india’s Bollywood and we all know Hollywood stands first. We re about to witness another BIG BANG THEORY in the fashion industry in Nigeria,(you go say shebi I talk am) you might have heard of big names when it comes to the fashion industry- Gucci, LV, Polo, Victoria secrets etc, when we come closer home we hear about some other local Nigerians designers that are pushing their solid brands for international recognition.
When it comes to budding designer in Nigeria ”its is said a story beings with once upon a time” I found an amazing wonder in the beautiful City of Enugu, an up rising designer that’s already making waves in the industry, the name of the label is “ReBirth” by Lui.
Nkemjika Lucy, this 21year old Nurse was from the prestigious University of Nigeria, born in the Coal City state of Enugu, her passion for fashion is leaving an indelible print, she started in 2009 even though she never had the time to venture in it fashion because she had to pursue her a medical degree in Nursing. But she kept a keen interest and desire to venture into what’s she loved the most, fashion and this kept burning in her heart like greek fire, learning bits and pieces of the trade from professional designers it took her 6 years to finally emerge and the brand “ReBirth” by Lui was born.
I have made a few clothes as a beginner. Say’s Lucy, which felt good. Now she her label stands tall on most of the eastern run way shows “ReBirth” by Lui has participated In so many trunk and fashion show in Enugu, Portharcout, Calabar, Uyo as well. ReBirth collection launched in a the industry from humble beginnings and with steady passion Lucy is taking her collection to the grand stage”ReBirth” is about a new beginning from what its been before she says, the growth and experience she have come to gain so far from other great designers out there. Now she is set to inspire Nigeria and Africa at large with her collections of African prints.
